A French naval officer’s sword, c 1870, slightly curved, fullered blade 29”, with narrow back fuller, marked “Colaux & Cie Klingenthal” on backstrap, ornamental brass hilt with sea serpent’s head quillon, rope bound edges, pierced outer panel to guard incorporating fouled anchor and foliage, rope bound knucklebow into cap shaped foliate pommel and backstrap with line of seashells, ribbed horn grip, in its brass mounted PL (worn) scabbard with 2 rings, the locket with applied fouled anchor.
