MARITIME:1950s French Line poster on board advertising the S.S. Liberté with the design by the renowned French graphic artist Bernard Villemot (1911-1989) Measures 25ins. x 35ins. The S.S. Europa was the pride of Norddeutscher Lloyd Line in the 1930s. She was the sister ship of the S.S. Bremen. The Second World War caused an end to her years in German hands and she was handed to the French as war reparations. As S.S. Liberté, the ship became the stop gap flagship for CGT (Compagnie Generale Transatlantique) French Line as a replacement for the legendary S.S. Normandie. Plus an unusual fine point sampler depicting a four funnel liner "Transatlantic Line" bearing a five pointed White Star.
