Together with a framed oil on board portrait of a lady in Quaker dress, similar period, the rear bearing a label reading 'Starbuck ? Mother of Edward '. Visible image 28cm by 22cm, frame 39cm by 32.5cm. Part of the Starbuck archive being sold through this saleroom. The Starbuck family were prominent in the anti-slavery movement both in the UK and the USA. Having been involved in the founding of Nantucket, members of the family emigrated to Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, after the American Revolutionary War and continued their successful whaling business.
