(The origins of kissing under the mistletoe, a plant that bears white berries at Christmas time, started in ancient Greece, during the festival of Saturnalia. Mistletoe was later used in marriage ceremonies and in the Roman era people would reconcile their differences under the mistletoe which represented peace. Today, mistletoe is associated with the chance to indulge in a festive kiss, when hopefully you will have your chance to kiss your very own ‘pick of the bunch’.)
