A FIRST AND SECOND WORLD WAR GROUP OF FOUR TO SIR SAMUEL HARVEY OF THE DRAGOON GUARDS. A group of four comprising 1914 Star named to Capt S.E. Harvey, War Medal and Victory Medal similarly named, Defence Medal unnamed as issued. Mounted as worn with accompanying miniatures. With research and images of the recipient. Born on the 7th December 1885 in Iquique, Chile, the son of a Cornish businessman who had struck it rich in the nitrate business. Educated at Eton and commissioned into the 1st King's Dragoon Guards in 1906. At the outbreak of War he was appointed to the rank of Captain and served in France from the 11th November 1914. Gassed during the War, apparently his health never recovered. As a Member of Parliament for Totnes he sat in the House of Commons for all but one year between 1922 and 1935. Knighted on his retirement from politics in 1935, laterr living in Sidmouth becoming a Justice of the Peace and High Sheriff of Devon in 1941.
