H.M.G. - 1852 LOSS OF THE AMAZON (126pp) Parliamentary Blue Paper in new marbled boards containing the detailed report of the Officers appointed to conduct the Official Inquiry into the loss of the Royal Mail Steam Packet "Amazon". Amazon was on passage to the West Indies when she caught fire just to the west of Brest, subsequently sinking with large loss of life. She was carrying the first consignment of postage stamps printed by Perkins, Bacon & Co. for Barbados; several months elapsed before new supplies of stamps reached the island.
