SAMUEL PROUT (British, 1783–1852), “STUDIES OF GROUPS OF PEOPLE”, six small studies of individual and groups of figures on one sheet of fine tracing paper in pen and ink. The study on the bottom left (four male figures wearing hats) is included in Prout’s watercolour ‘At Wurzburg Bavaria’ forming part of the Whitworth Art Gallery collection at the University of Manchester. The kneeling female figure on the centre left appears in Prout’s lithograph of the Interior of ‘St. Mark’s Cathedral, Venice’ included in his book ‘Sketches in France, Switzerland and Italy’ 1833. Dimensions: 21.5cm x 26.5cm approx.
