A nameplate, THE CARDIFF ROD MILL, carried by four different diesel locomotives from two different classes. First carried on Class 37 No 37 229 named at the Mill on 23 May 1984 by George Richards, a Director of the company, to commemorate the twinning of Railfreight with one of its largest South Wales customers, and transferred to 37 712 on 9 November 1988 at a renaming ceremony at Cardiff Tidal Sidings by David Jones, Works Manager. In December 1992 the nameplates were transferred to Class 56 56 060 at Cardiff Canton without ceremony and finally in May 1997 to 56 052, also at Cardiff Canton, until finally removed in August 2000 after that engine had been withdrawn. The nameplate is accompanied by a replica of its badge, cast from the original pattern. The nameplate 72¾"x9¾", the badge 25½"x8¼".
