A nameplate, WINCHESTER, with SCHOOLS CLASS appendage below, from the Southern Railway V Class 4-4-0 No 901 built at Eastleigh in March 1930 and named after the well known public school in the Hampshire city. Rebuilt in October 1940 with Lemaitre exhaust and large diameter chimney, becoming BR 30901. A long time St Leonards engine, it finished its days at Brighton from where it was withdrawn on 29 December 1962 and stored in the goods yard at Hove prior to cutting up at Eastleigh Works.
