JOHN VARLEY (1778-1842) A LANDSCAPE STUDY WITH BUILDINGS, depicting a building and trees on high ground with a domed building to the distance, initialled bottom left, ink wash on paper, approximate size 11cm x 14cm, together with an unsigned sketch depicting a boat on a river with figures and cattle to the foreground, a cathedral to the background, there is a further sketch verso with writing in pencil, sketch is pen on ink, approximate size 14cm x 29cm, Condition Report: first picture has small spots of foxing and dirty marks in places, second picture has dirty marks, fold to the top right corner and small tear to the upper edge (PROVENANCE: The Arnold Fellows Collection)
