German Propaganda Forgeries. 1953 envelope to Germany bearing genuine ½d and forged 2d, tied by Hampstead machine cancel of 14 OCT 53. The Post Office spotted the forgery and a tax marking was applied, although apparently the amount due was not collected. The addressee was Joachim Hosang, author of GEZAHNTE KRIEGSPROPAGANDA (translated as STAMPS IN BATTLEDRESS, 1955) and the cover bears his guarantee handstamp. Minor wrinkles, rare
