A 19th Century piece of hand writing history: a heavily gilt pen nib with an oblique point, engraved with a swastika on the ridge and the inscription J. JACKSON & CO SWASTIKA BIRMINGHAM. In excellent unused condition. The nib is accompanied by a framed advertisement of the item. In 19th Century, Birmingham became the centre of the world’s pen trade.
At its peak, the industry employed 8,000 skilled crafts people, with over 70% being women.
