"Souvenir of Fete at Bourne End, at New York Lodge, Buckinghamshire, August 1st 1908", Gouache, Signed, inscribed and dated 1908, and inscribed on labels verso, 19" x 28.5" (48.2 x 72.3cm). Provenance: Abbott and Holder Ltd, London. Notes: To celebrate the success of the 1908 Olympics, American millionaire and philanthropist George Kessler (1863-1920) employed Woolls and other theatre scene painters to recreate ancient Athens at his Thames-side house and held a firework-lit regatta and fete.
