Irish Royal South Down Militia Victorian waist belt clasp circa 1856-81. Relic heavy brass interlocking example with matching bench marks to each half. Circlet inscribed ROYAL SOUTH DOWN MILITIA; crown to lined centre. Plain ends. Centre polished. Raised at Hillsborough 1797. Became 5th Bn. Royal Irish Rifles on Friday 1st July, 1881.
