1998 Paul Smith Ltd edition Rover Mini 1.3 Automatic, Japanese import with only 71,000kms, exceptionally excellent sound condition throughout, mechanically in good working order, and an immaculate interior.
Made in 1998, based on a Standard Cooper, 300 were produced for the UK market and a further 1500 were scheduled for the Japanese market. There is speculation that they never actually made all the Japanese ones.
Features are as follows:
• One off Paul Smith Blue paint (The legend goes that Rover were in a meeting with Paul Smith and asked what colour he wanted the car to be, he ripped a piece out of the shirt he was wearing and told them "That colour!")
• Charcoal Mini light 12” alloy wheels
• Front fog lamps
• Body coloured wheel arches
• Citrus green hidden parts (Glovebox, Rocker cover, petrol tank and boot board)
• Gold plated Paul Smith bonnet badge
• Green Britain Grille badge
• Body coloured dash board
• Magnolia dash clocks with special style numbers on the gauges, and the Paul Smith signature on the centre clock
• Paul Smith mini plaque inside the glove box lid
• Black leather seats with matching door pockets, in a style only available on the Paul Smith Mini
• Paul Smith Mini rear window sticker
• Boot board (which had only ever appeared on the 60’s coopers and the 90’s cabriolet)
• Special ‘MINI’ badge above the registration plate light on the boot lid
• GB badge on the boot lid (This was the first time that the Rover Group had put GB’s on Minis)
Also being a Japanese market car you will find air-conditioning, fixed rear windows, rain deflectors, km/hr speedometer, single point fuel injection and side mounted radiator. This car is in exceptional original condition - judging from the condition of the underside it has never seen rain though in general Japanese cars did not suffer the same from rust as UK supplied cars did. Only deviation from the original specification are the Koni shocks along with adjustable coil spring conversion all round and HKS rear exhaust box. There are 4 Bridgestone tyres on the alloys with the steel spare still wearing its original Pirelli. Jack and wheel brace are there
