ACCRINGTON LANCASHIRE SLAB SEALED GINGER BEER. 6.9ins tall, crude hand thrown stoneware ginger beer shape, blob (cork closure) lip. Extremely crisply & well struck large front cut out slab (filling more than half the body, old edge chip, blob of extra clay fired on) with a deeply modelled acorn and leaves. Within the outer border impressed letters HENRY PARKER/ ACCRINGTON, TRADE MARK each side of the pictorial. Until this was acquired by New Zealands Warren Roberts (in New York of all places) only a fragment of this was recorded. Colin Savage & Nick Chipchase posted the two adverts shown here on the UK Bottle Forum. Some usage and in manufacture flaws, but overall very crudely made, and fired, and really super characterful. Fabulous, very typical of the type, glaze colour, some rear firing imperfections. Still bears evidence of rust, from burial, this would definitely benefit from a careful clean.
