** LEEK (STAFFS.) - "LE BAGOT" PAROLE P.O.W. LETTER FROM LEEK TO FRANCE; Very fine 1 Oct. 1812 EL (wafer seal; full typed transcript) from POW "Le Bagot" on parole in "Leek" to a friend in Nantes ref. not having received any replies from the addressee for more than a year (!) even though he has written every month and still hoping to find a British POW Captain for an exchange with him. Interestingly this letter was not endorsed as being unpaid (as were the preceding and following Leek POW lots) but it was still charged "6" (decimes) on delivery, having been routed via London to Morlaix.
