ARR - Property of a lady - Uli Nimptsch (1897-1977) - SIX FIGURES - sculpted bronze relief panel, the bronze 19.7 by 18.9ins. (50 by 48cms.) - initialled lower right. Footnote - Nimptsch studied in Berlin and worked in Rome and Paris from 1931 to 1938. He was clearly influenced by the works of the Impressionists, and the influence of Auguste Rodin can be seen in the present sculpture. His most famous work is the life-size sculpture of Lloyd George in the House of Commons. His reclining female nude entitled Olympia, executed in 1956, is held at the Walker Gallery, Liverpool.
