A pair of German World War One Trench Art mantel spill vases, each salvaged from a pair of Patronenfabrik Karlsruhe Kp. 5. 18. shell cases, well-engraved in the Chinese taste with precious objects, jardinières of flowering peonies and chrysanthemums, further foliage and butterflies, below a wrigglework S-scroll border, the base with a lotus and foliate demi-lunes on a scale border, 41cm high, the bases dated Aug. 1917 and Juni. 1918, (2)
