'Cornish Tracts,' fourteen rare Cornish works, bound in one volume. John Batten. 'Ode for the Coronation 19th July, 1821, Recited at a Public Festival Held on that Day, in the Town of Penzance; Dedicated to all Loyal Subjects and to the Inhabitants of that Town in Particular,' 8 pages, uncut leaf edges, quarto, first edition and possibly the only copy to have survived, printed and sold by T. Vigurs, Penzance, 1821. Daines Barrington. 'Some Additional Information Relative to the Continuance of the Cornish Language. In a Letter to John Lloyd Esq. Dated March 20th 1776,' only edition, quarto, 6 pages, Barrington met Dolly Pentreath, a cornish speaker, in 1774 and published a report of the encounter, this report is the main claim that she was the last Cornish speaker, a year after the death of Dolly in 1777, Barrington received a letter, written in Cornish and accompanied by an English translation from a fisherman in Mousehole named William Bodinar, stating that he knew of 5 people who could speak Cornish in that village alone, Barrington also speaks of John Nancarrow of Marazion who was a native speaker and survived into the 1790’s. 'An Excellent New Ballad Entitled 'The Cripple of Cornwall,' [1785] a copy of the original ballad sheet, with a large woodcut illustration at the head, printed by J. Pitts, Seven Dials, London. 'Outline or Skeleton Maps of the Diocese of Exeter. Part I. Containing, in Thirteen Plates, The Archdeaconry and County of Cornwall, In Which the Boundaries of all the Deaneries, Hundreds, Subdivisions of the Hundreds and Parishes are Accurately Described,' lithographed by Liddell and Son, Bodmin, small 4to, a very good copy with uncut leaf edges. Davies Gilbert Esq M.P, with a fine portrait frontispiece, tall quarto, 8 pages, only edition, 1829, a fine copy. Edward Peacock F.S.A. 'On The Churchwardens’ Accounts of the Parish of Stratton, in the County of Cornwall,' accounts given from 1512 to 1547, printed for the Society of Antiquaries by J. B. Nichols and Sons, London, first edition, 1880, large quarto, 42 pages, a very good copy. Davies Gilbert Esq M.P. 'On The Expediency of Assigning Specific Names to all Such Functions of Simple Elements as Represent Definite Physical Properties; With the Suggestion of a New Term in Mechanics; Illustrated by an Investigation of the Machine Moved by Recoil; And Also by Some Observations on the Steam Engine,' first edition, 1827, large quarto, 14 pages, a very good copy. Davies Gilbert Esq. M.P. 'On the Progressive Improvements Made in the Efficiency of the Steam Engines in Cornwall,' first edition, 1830, 14 pages, large quarto, a fine copy. John S. Enys. 'Remarks on the Duty of the Steam Engines Employed in the Mines of Cornwall at Different Periods,' first edition 1840, large quarto, 18 pages, a very good copy. J. M. Rendel (Civil Engineer). 'To the Rev. Canon Rogers. Report on the Practicability of Forming a Harbour, at the Mouth of Loe Pool in Mount’s Bay, Near Helston in the County of Cornwall,' first edition, 1837, printed by J. B. Rowe, Whimple-Street, Plymouth. The idea of the harbour was to provide a safe anchorage between Falmouth and Penzance, and as an outlet for the Stannary town of Helston, but it was never built. The Loe Pool was owned by Canon Rogers. Large quarto, 16 pages, a good copy with uncut leaf-edges. J. T. Blight. 'An Account of Remarkable Subterranean Chambers at Trelowarren, The Seat of Sir R. R. Vyvyan, in the County of Cornwall,' first edition, 1865, published by The Society of Antiquaries, this site is in good preservation and are remarkable subterranean chambers, which appear to have been unknown to Dr Borlase, The County Antiquary and are only mentioned by one other Cornish historian, Polwhele, large quarto, 6 pages, illustrations, very good condition. C. Spence Bate. 'The Inscribed Stones and Ancient Crosses of Devon,' first edition, 1875, part 1, publisher not known, quarto, 36 pages with numerous woodcut illustrations, a very good copy. Rev. J. J. Wilkinson (Rector of Lanteglos). 'Receipts and Expenses in the Building of Bodmin Church, A.D.1469 to 1472,' first edition, 1874, printed for the Camden Society, quarto, 50 pages, a very good copy with a presentation inscription to W. Copeland Borlase Esq from the author. Aeneas Barkly Hutchinson (Chaplain to H.M. Dockyard Devonport). 'A Monograph on the History and Restoration of the Parish Church of S. Mary, Callington,' first edition, 1861, published by G. H. Lidstone, Plymouth and printed by William Pollard, Exeter, large quarto, 28 pages, plates, a very good copy, tipped in at the back, 4 pages Cheshire and Cornwall (predominantly Cornwall) Topography and family history. With the bookplate of Eric Quayle, Zennor, Cornwall, in an early, very good binding, half calf, marbled boards, morocco label to spine with gilt lettering, all items are contained in a portfolio and then bound but could easily be extracted and bound separately.
