A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 7018, 1941, from a Stanier type 8F 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order for the War Department, WD No 70438. It was shipped to Iran for war service, their No 41-179, returning to the UK in 1948 becoming BR 48290. A long time Northampton engine, it spent its later years at Birkenhead, Aintree and Sutton Oak from where it was withdrawn in August 1965 and sold for scrap to Buttigiegs at Newport. Cast brass, 10"x5¾", cleaned and the front repainted. (Postage Band: B)
