BELLARMINE JUG. 8ins tall. Dark salt glaze finish, bulbous body. Familiar bearded face sprig below neck, three belly belly medallion, rear handle. Exceptional characterful in manufacture firing flaws, several very dark cobalt drips, additions. These unusual & very rare types have, over the years been dredged & variously discovered off the East Yorkshire & Norfolk coastline suggesting a Netherlands connection? Minor lip flakes.
