A NAVAL GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1793-1840 WITH SYRIA CLASP. A Naval Gerenal Service Medal with Syria Clasp named to Thomas Henwood. The Roll records Thomas Henwood as Pte R.M. aboard H.M.S. Bellerophon and his being entitled to the single clasp for Syria. Bellerophon was one of thirty-three British vessels under the command of Admiral Sir Robert Stopford that took part in the joint action on the 3rd November 1840 against the Egyptians in Syria forcing them to withdraw. Bellerophon was a third rate 80-gun ship of the line, alongside Crimea she also won a Battle Honour for Crimea *Condition: Cleaned and with dent to clasp, on a replacement ribbon.
