A RARE DERBY TROMPE L'OEIL 'PLAYING CARDS' PEN TRAY, CIRCA 1815

rectangular with scroll-moulded handles and lions paw feet, boldly painted with a deck of cards scattered on a black enamel ground, the centre with a DUTY card featuring the name LLEWELLYN, crown, crossed batons and D mark in red. 28cm long



There is a minute flea bite to the claw of one foot. The gilding shows some wear, particularly to one handle. There are no cracks or restoration. In generally good condition commensurate with age.
