A WW1 period 'British' Lusitania (German) Medal, in original fitted box with accompanying printed propaganda sheet, produced as a direct replica of that produced by the Imperial German High Command following the controversial sinking of R.M.S. Lusitania, the German's having pre-warned the American public not to board the ill-fated crusie liner that they beleived would be carrying arms and munitions in support of the allied war effort. Britain's medal was intended to counter those claims and raise additional funds for their own war effort.
