AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY AUSTRIAN SILVER AND ENAMEL SCENT FLASK AND COMPACT

hexagonal Diana’s head assay mark, town mark for Vienna, 900 standard, each with different maker’s mark, the silver-gilt flask of ovoid form, with a screw-on cap, the compact of circular design, both decorated in similar blue guilloché enamel, cased. (2) Flask 7.7cm high, 2.5 troy ounces gross



Flask originally silver-gilt mounted, now rubbed throughout, cap scratched, possible loss of applied detail to the top of the cap. The set is matched - the flask original to the case, the compact a replacement piece, slightly large for the box recess. Viennese retailer’s box with silk signed: J. L.HERRMANN A.G WIEN I. KARNTNERSTR.26
