RUSPINIS STYPTIC BOTTLE. 3 ins tall. Very early cobalt blue, squat rectangular body, round shoulders, short neck, thin lip, whittled surface. Extremely boldly embossed to front & back. Super crude cross hinge base with protruding thin wing of glass, makes bottle wobble. Styptic was used to seal small cuts, Ruspini famously published a Medical Tract in 1884 (see accompanying advert). Ex David Walker Barker Collection, various base labels.
