A 17th century Armorial bellarmine jug, the salt glazed stoneware jug of typical swollen form and applied with a mask and central armorial, with loop handle, 21.5cm high

More Information

The piece shows wear to the glazed surface around the rim, a loss approximately 3.5cm long to the handle, and chips and losses to the foot, the largest approximately 2.5cm long. The body shows glazing faults, the odd small firing crack, and firing pits frits, including a pit to the armorial. There are two larger faults to the body, one approximately 3.5cm long, and one approximately 1.5cm wide (see photos).
