WW1 Royal Engineers DSO Group of Brigadier Harold Napier North DSO ADC to George V Comprising: Distinguished Service Order (GVR), 1914/15 Star CAPT H N NORTH RE, British War Medal, Victory Medal MID Oak Leaf, BT. L.T. COL., General Service Medal, clasp IRAQ, LT COL., GVR Jubilee Medal, GVIR Coronation Medal. The group remains mounted as originally worn . The announcement of the Distinguished Service Order appeared in the London Gazette on the 27th August 1917. Brigadier Harold Napier North DSO ADC was born June 1883 and after attending the Royal Military Academy was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on the 21st December 1900. Promoted Lieutenant 1903 and Captain in 1910 it was with this rank that he landed in India on the 24th September 1915, before transferring to the Mesopotamia theatre of operations in January 1916. Appointed to the Staff he was MID on two occasions 19th October 1916 and 15th August 1917. Promoted to Brevet Lieutenant Colonel in June 1918 he returned to India and took part in the Iraq Expeditionary Force during which he received his third MID on the 9th September 1921. Remaining in India he returned to the UK and was appointed Deputy Chief Engineer Northern Command 1931 to 1933 with promotion to Temporary Brigadier Northern Command 1933 to 1937. During this period on the 22nd February 1935 he was appointed ADC To King George V. He was still serving with the rank of Brigadier on the 1st January 1938.
