A pair of Chelsea flared frill pot pourri vases, modelled with a pair of masks and profusely ornamented with flowers and exotic plumes, picked out in polychrome enamels, the reserves well-painted with butterflies and insects, diaper-pierced neck with flowerhead bosses at angles, one domed cover with bird finial and further foliage, 18cm high, one with gold anchor, c.1765; a similar pair of Derby Patch Mark vases, 17cm high, c.1765 (4)
Due to the importance of this lot I will produce a condition report on each item in order of the photographs I send them it .
Item one: worn gilding around the edge . Signs of repair on flowers and restoration on the inside of the pierced wall of the vase, loss of colour to the embellishments of the vase, fire cracks
Item two : Again, worn gilding the edge,signs of restoration to the inner pierced wall, also partly snapped off. The faces of this vase have been caught with a clay substance- probably what the restorer has used, some small flowers on the bottom have broken off . Restoration and paint on the stain flowers of the vase ( pieces inside the vase )
Item three: Better condition this time, few petals with some restoration, the vase is all intact, no apparent signs of restoration on the body of the vase , one larger petal has snapped off , part of the paint worn off at the bottom. Overall good condition for the age of it .
Item four: Gilding around the edge has worn, some main petals have chipped off, main leaf at bottom is snapped, hair lines on the inside, signs of minor restorations on some of the petals .
