A very large acrylic on board painting by Joseph O'Connor dating to the 1960s-1970s. Features a large and striking portrait of a man in profile set against a green ground. Small damage to board in centre.

Joseph Dominic O’Connor studied medicine at UCD before turning to art at the National College of Art and Design, and then later Regent Street Polytechnic and Chelsea School of Art in London, the latter of which he received a scholarship for in 1962. O’Connor exhibited sporadically throughout his long artistic career, at the David Hendriks Gallery, the Project Gallery Dublin, the Peppercannister Gallery and more notably with the Independent Artist group (of whom he was an original member), the Irish Exhibition of Living Art and the Royal Hibernian Academy. His work is now held in a number of collections including The Ulster Museum, IMMA, The Arts Council of Ireland and the Office of Public Works.
