Pattison, Halifax a carved oak moonphase longcase clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a gong with the thirteen-inch break-arch brass dial having a moonphase aperture to the arch showing the daily phases and date of the moon, the raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, and Arabic five-minute outer numerals, the centre engraved with a subsidiary date dial, rococo decoration and signed Pattison, Halifax with cast-brass c-scroll corner spandrels and decorative blued-steel hands, the ebonised oak case heavily carved with asymmetrical designs and having barley-twist columns to the hood surmounted by a swan-neck pediment and standing on bracket feet, height 242cm. Note: John Pattison is recorded as working in Halifax, Yorkshire, initially as partner to John Burton, then working alone after Burton died in 1783.
