A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY PAIR TO THE FIELD ARTILLERY. A Great War Pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 197368 Gnr H.W. Hayes R.A, Henry William Hayes was the son of E. and Rosa Hayes of Kelmscott, Lechlade, Gloucestershire where he was also born. He served with C Battery 95th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery. He was killed in action on the 12th October 1918 and is buried at the Troisvelles Communal Cemetery, his headstone reads 'Gone but not Forgotten', he was 30 years old. His is one of only 17 identified men at this cemetery, one of these, Gunner Wood, also served with C Battery and died on the same day. *CR Normal light surface marks. A lot fee of £8 inc.
