SCARCE HONG KONG FRAMED PAID MARKING ON COVER FROM CANTON; 10 Aug. 1859 env. (minor flap fault) 'via Southampton' to Woolwich from the Royal Marine Battalion in Canton and sent via Hong Kong where pre-paid '6'(d) and struck with the scarce framed Orange-Red "PAID" h.s. (Webb type 10) and Hong Kong cds in Blue on rear. Front with London S.E. and Chudleigh cds where redirected and rated '1'(d). Unusual item.
