WW2 / Pre War British Royal Navy Captains White Tropical Pith Helmet and Tin. Named to "Captain FR Barry" on tin. Helmet is maker marked "Geve, Mathews & Seagrove Ltd, Portsmouth & Devonport". Size 6 3/4. Additionally marked "Barry" to inside of the helmet liner. Francis Reginald Barry became a Rear Admiral in 1940. Born in London in 1887, the son of Lt. Arthur Barry of the Royal Navy. A special report was called for after Barry delivered unsatisfactory results in the Junior Officers' Afloat Examination in November 1905. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1908. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1916. Promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1920. Barry was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1928. Retired in 1940.
