A selection of agate and other hardstone jewellery comprised of a circular Scottish agate specimen cloak brooch stamped 'Sterling', 4.6cm diameter, a smaller Scottish specimen circular brooch, two other brooches, a pair of moss agate cuff links, a red jasper ring and a pair of drop earrings.
We are pleased to be offering this lot from the stock of family run firm Shipton and Co., who were based in Hastings White Rock area, and who were unfortunately forced to close their doors in 2014 after a section of the rock face above collapsed onto their shop, making the building unsafe. Although agates are found the world over Scottish agates are often second to none in their colour, pattern and beauty. Agates have been collected in Scotland since prehistoric times and are a stone that is celebrated within these Celtic lands, especially within their jewellery, and has become a favourite amongst collectors.
