Aldo Balding (20th/21st century) - A venetian canal scene with figures in Gondoliers, signed Aldo also inscribed on a label verso, oil on canvas, 21.25" x 32"

** The artist was born in Southsea and study art at Southampton beginning his career as a freelance illustrator in London. He moved to France to become a full-time artist and now lives in the Languedoc Roussillon region of France. He's represented by a number of galleries around the world and prefers to paint in direct sunlight, he was influenced by such great painters as Sargent, Sorolla, Zorn, and Munnings. He has had many solo exhibitions both at the Catto Gallery, London, The Alexander Gallery, Bristol and Christopher Moller Art, Cape Town, South Africa. He has also won many awards and his commissions include Gordon Brown the ex chancellor of the exchequer, Sir Michael McWilliam, Lady Laura Paul, The Late Peter Alliss, and the golfer Ernie Els.
