A good Chelsea or St James (Charles Gouyn) gold mounted porcelain scent bottle, c.1755, of rococo cartouche form, painted to each side with rose and tulip sprays, the stopper with love-bird finial, 4.5cm high

Literature - cf. Kate Foster, Scent Bottles, pubd. 1966, plate 46 for an illustration of this scent bottle, purchased from Winifred Williams of Eastbourne. This scent bottle is the smallest recorded example made at the Chelsea or St James potteries.

Typical minor glaze imperfections. Occasional tiny scratches to the glaze, otherwise in exceptionally good condition with no restoration, chips or cracks detected, gold mounts and chain also in good condition.
