Brockbanks, London, a Georgian Egyptian-style quarter-chiming bracket clock the eight-day duration, triple-fusee movement striking the hours on a bell and the ting-tang quarters on a further two bells and engraved with the makers name Brockbanks, London, the eight-inch round enamel dial with black Roman numerals, repeat signature and blued steel spade hands, with a lever for no strike and strike, N/S, above XII o'clock, the mahogany lancet case with ebonised inlaid decoration, gadrooned mouldings with brass and bronze cast sphinx caryatids to the canted corners, surmounted by a cast finial and with lions-head handles to the sides, standing on lions-paw feet, height 51cms. Notes: Brockbanks were a partnership between brothers Myles, apprenticed 1769 and John Brockbank, apprenticed 1761, alongside their brother William, apprenticed 1794 whilst at Cooper's Court, Cornhill, London.
