Triumph 2 Litre Vitesse 1967 convertible with overdrive offered for sale. This car is in exceptional condition for her age and structurally very sound. At some time the chassis has been replaced, together with 2 front wings and door skins. There is no evidence of any accident damage. HPI is clear. There is no welding to be done and only superficial corrosion to be seen, which could be coated the Waxoil is similar to address.

There are 8 former keepers, with the last owning her for 23 years. He last had her on the road in 2003 and the car was laid up for the subsequent 20 years before I bought her in April 2024. There are invoices from 2002 for over £1200, for a new hood, new carburettors, new radiator and the Kenlowe electric fan. The MOT from 2002 shows the mileage as 7251.

The extensive re-commissioning work done in 2024 is covered in a separate schedule, where the cost of the materials and parts was over £900. All new brake parts were fitted whilst resolving some suspension/transmission issues. The vendor spent over 200 hours on this worthy project, enjoying getting her back to life.

1) New brake master cylinder, front discs, callipers & pads fitted. New rear shoes, wheel cylinders and attachment springs. Filled with silicone fluid. Freed the handbrake cable and added return springs at the backplate levers.

2) New clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder fitted using silicone fluid.

3) Offside inner bearing replaced on the differential housing. New UJ fitted to the offside driveshaft. Nearside driveshaft including UJ replaced with good second-hand item with good bearings. Pinion oil seal replaced and refilled differential with oil.

4) Engine freed using diesel oil, with piston rings freed with ATF to give good compression. Replaced the petrol pump with new item. Freed the alternator rotor and checked & cleaned brushes to provide correct output. Replaced the temperature sender. Freed the starter motor bendix and checked brushes. Checked timing. Resealed the rocker box adjusting tappets. Gapped the good original plugs and contact breaker.

5) Renewed the brushes spring in the wiper motor to make it function correctly. Refilled the washer bottle.

6) Replaced the gaskets and ‘o’ seals in the carburettors, adjusting the float levels.

7) Checked & confirmed good trunnions in the front suspension, re-greasing the wheel bearings. Similarly for the rear trunnions and wheel bearings.

8) Topped up the gearbox to the correct level.

9) Replaced the wiper blade assemblies.

10) Restored the correct operation of the indicators and rear side & brake lights. Installed new 4 year warranty battery.

11) Removed the fuel tank flushing out 20 year old petrol and clearing the fuel line to the pump fitting a filter to the carburettor feed.

12) Freed & greased the door window mechanism on both doors to give easy movement.

Outstanding jobs;

1) Re-establish the 12 volt supply to the temperature & fuel gauges.

2) The solenoid on the overdrive is working but the sticky pressure control valve needs freeing.

3) Slacken the main adjustment on the handbrake cable to release the overtight offside rear brake drum.

4) Investigate the uneven clutch centre plate which gives rise to some vibration at low speed take-offs. OK with more revs.

5) Change the oil filter (provided) & engine oil to replace the flushing agent.

6) Install the new radiator hoses & thermostat (provided). Retain the new antifreeze/coolant.

7) Provide foam under the rear seat to replace the missing/corroded metal springs. Fit replacement seat belts – technically not required.
