A stunning collection of Genia Minache (Russian/French b.1907-1972) gouache and pencil illustrations / paintings. Minache illustrated the more recent 1960 publication of the Kamasutra. These drawings are exquisite with extremely fine detail. Twelve illustrations housed in four frames. All signed by artist.
Genia Minache (Evgeniya Semyonovna Khadzhi-Minache) was born in Saint-Petersburg in a family of descendants of the Crimean Karaites community. Her father was a well-to-do architect Sima Minache. Due to the civil war in Russia (1917-1922), the family had to immigrate to Turkey. Then in the 1920s, they settled in Paris, where Minache enrolled in the National School of Decorative Arts and manifested herself as a painter and sculptor.
