Fees

A boxwood and ebonised Northern Upright pattern chess set, comprising thirty-two unweighted pieces, the kings 10.1cm high, the pawn 6.3cm high, in associated stained pine box, 25.3cm x 16.4cm x 9.4cm

More Information

This set is believed to be mid-to-late 20th century.

Overall condition is good - all pieces show general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use, and a few pieces show nibbling around the bases. However, there are no major splits, cracks, losses or repair. Each piece has a felt base, however many are peeling slightly around the sides, and the edges of the felt bases are quite rough. The box shows heavy scratching and wear to exterior and interior, and nibbling around the edges. There is denting to the locking mechanism, and there is no associated key thus it has not been tested. Please see pictures for illustration.
