A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 62709, DARLINGTON WORKS, 1927, from a LNER D49 Shire Class 4-4-0 No 277 BERWICKSHIRE built at Darlington in January 1928, renumbered 2709 in 1946, becoming BR 62709. A long time Haymarket engine, it was withdrawn from there on 1 January 1960 and cut up at Darlington Works. The BR number on a brass strip, the earlier number 2709 ground off but still legible. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front repainted. (Postage Band: C)
