Edward Rixon's MC was announced in the London Gazettes dated 3rd June 1919 and 11th March 1920 serving with 438th (Cheshire) Field Coy:
"For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations in September and October 1918, particularly when in charge of the construction of crossing over the Canal du Nord, near Havrincourt. Although driven off the work five times in one day by heavy shelling, he returned with his party time after time till the work was satisfactorily finished. at Romieres, too, under heavy fire, he made a valuable reconnaissance of the village and bridge, and later assisted in the construction of a temporary bridge."
