Roman Imperial, Maximinus Thrax (235-8 AD) AR Denarius, Rome mint, Pax standing left with olive branch, cf RIC IV 12-19, 2.75g, aEF, ex-M. Trenerry. During the 'Year of the Six Emperors' Maximinus marched on Rome, first laying siege to Aquileia. Starving soldiers from among his army decapitated him and his son, and carried their heads on poles to Rome.
