Royal Marine Artillery 1879-1905 Officer's helmet plate, a fused grenade with 9 points to the flame, laurel wreath around voided strap inscribed Per Mare Per Terram with blue enamel backing, Gibraltar in scroll below the fuse, in the centre a silver globe, fouled anchor below strap, 4 reverse loops, plate has been re-gilded at some time and a new globe fitted, extremely fine. This pattern now thought to have been used 1879-81. (KK 1105) (See photo) (Y)
