A French smallsword c 1730, hollow triangular section colichmarde blade 32" etched with foliate panels and "Dieu et mon Esperance et l'epee pour ma defence", russet and gilt steel hilt, the double shell guard and spherical pommel pierced and embossed with trophies of flags, musical instruments and cannon, the grip bound with lightly gilt silver ribbon.
