Boxell, Brighton a French late-Victorian engraved oval brass carriage clock the eight-day duration movement having a later platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half-hours on a gong with a repeat of the last hour on demand, the backplate engraved with the name of the retailer Boxell, Brighton and numbered 550, the hand setting arrow in the form used by Delepine-Barrois, carriage clock movement makers at Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals and blued-steel moon hands and repeat of the retailer's name, the engraved oval case with a c-scroll handle, height 18.5cm/15cm, handle up/down.
