1892 (June 26) Stampless cover to "Mr Joyce, Transport Agent, c/o Mafeking Post Office, Mafeking", headed "O.H.M.S" and signed "Chas. A. L Ricketts, Lt & Gen, B.B.P", marked "unknown" with datestamps of Mafeking (June 30) and Returned Letter Office Mafeking (July 4, only recorded example). Upon opening at the Returned Letter Office it was found to contain a private letter not of an official nature, and 8d (twice the 4d deficit) was therefore collected, presumably from Charles Ricketts, 2d and 6d British Bechuanaland stamps being applied and cancelled by violet oval "POSTMASTER GENERAL'S OFFICE / 13 JY 92 / BRITISH BECHUANALAND".
