LATE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY OAK MULE CHEST, the butterfly hinged, triple panelled top enclosing a candle box with cover to the interior, set above three fielded panels and pair of cockbeaded drawers, fitted with brass swan neck handles, to the front, raised on extended stile feet, 31” (78.7cm) high, 51” x 20 ½” (129.5cm x 52cm) C/R-top, full length splits to two panels, piece let in where locking plate was located, 4” x 1 ¼” approx, visible from the top, repairs to both sides of the mitre joint to the front left corner, some staining and applied moulded edge possibly later, right side with full length split, full length piece let in to the front, 1” approx, and woodworm holes to lower rail, left side with full length piece let in to the front, 1 ¾” approx., the drawers with later handles
